Privacy Policy
Crumb is built to be private by default. The app runs its storage analysis entirely on your Mac, needs no account, and does no advertising, profiling, or usage tracking of its own. This page explains the few cases where data leaves your device, and what the website collects.
The Crumb app
Your storage audit stays on your Mac. Scanning, categorizing, and the cleanup plan all happen locally. Crumb does not upload your files, your file listings, or your disk contents anywhere, and it contains no analytics or telemetry.
Optional AI features (Pro). If you turn on the AI features — such as "Ask Crumb," the "is this safe to delete?" explanation, or AI Organize — and provide an OpenAI API key, Crumb sends a request to OpenAI's API to generate suggestions. In those requests Crumb sends only scrubbed file names and basic metadata (such as size, type, and date). It does not send the contents of your files, your full file paths, your macOS username, or any personal identifiers. The AI features are off unless you enable them, and never run without an API key. Data you send to OpenAI is handled under OpenAI's privacy policy.
Licensing & purchases. To validate your license, Crumb contacts Dodo Payments. If you buy Crumb, the purchase is processed by Dodo Payments; Crumb never sees or stores your card details. Payment data is handled under Dodo Payments' privacy policy.
The website (cleanwithcrumb.com)
The website uses Google Analytics to measure traffic and Google Ads to measure ad conversions, which set cookies in your browser. Our web server keeps standard access logs (for example IP address and requested page) for security and troubleshooting. Checkout is handled by Dodo Payments on their own pages.
What we do not do
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not build advertising profiles from what Crumb finds on your Mac.
Your choices
You can use Crumb without the AI features and without an account. You can block analytics cookies in your browser. To ask what data we hold about you, or to request deletion, email hello@cleanwithcrumb.com.
